About our foodbank
Here is an introduction to our project.
The Letchworth Foodbank was established in 2012 as a member of The Trussell Trust’s network of Foodbanks. It is supported by a wide variety of churches, community groups and individuals. All members of the team are volunteers.
We provide emergency food for local people in crisis. We help working people as well as those on benefits, from a wide range of backgrounds. When people visit the Foodbank, they are given three days’ worth of food, providing them with three meals a day plus some essential non-food items, such as cleaning products and toiletries.
We work with a number of partners, particularly Citizens Advice – North Herts, to help our clients to resolve the problems they are facing.
We run three foodbanks across the area (Hitchin and Letchworth from 10am to 12 noon, Baldock from 10am to 11:30am), Tuesdays and Fridays.
